The Holy Father's Intentions for the Month of April 2025: For the use of the new technologies Let us pray that the use of the new technologies will not replace human relationships, will respect the dignity of the person, and will help us face the crises of our times.

Almighty and ever living God, grant our Holy Father, Pope Francis, wisdom in discernment as he chooses a new bishop for this local Church. By your divine providence, grant us a shepherd, after the heart of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, whose benevolent care and kindly zeal will strengthen the people of God by the light of the Gospel and the power of the sacraments. Lord, as you now prepare to call our new bishop to the Diocese of Austin, give him courage and generosity to respond with a spirit of joyful hope. Invoking the intercession of our patroness, Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Por tu divina providencia, concédenos un pastor, en busca del corazón de Jesús, el Buen Pastor, cuyo cuidado benevolente y amable entusiasmo fortalezcan al pueblo de Dios con la luz del Evangelio y el poder de los sacramentos. Welcome Father James Misko
Father James Misko elected Administrator of the Diocese of Austin On January 20, 2025, Pope Francis announced the appointment of Bishop Joe S. Vásquez as Archbishop of GalvestonHouston. On March 25, 2025, clergy, religious, and lay faithful gathered for the installation of Archbishop Vásquez at the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Houston. With this appointment, the office of the Bishop of Austin is now vacant, and we prayerfully await a new bishop. The College of Consultors for the Diocese of Austin met on the evening of the 25th and elected the Very Reverend James Misko as diocesan administrator. Upon accepting his appointment, Father James Misko made the Profession of Faith and took the Oath of Fidelity before the College of Consultors. Father Misko, a priest of the Diocese of Austin for over 17 years, has served as parochial vicar at St. Elizabeth in Pflugerville, pastor of Christ the King in Belton, and pastor of St. Louis King of France in Austin. He has served as the Vicar General and Moderator of the Curia since January 2019. The diocesan administrator possesses many of the same responsibilities as a diocesan bishop, but with certain limitations, particularly regarding decisions with long-term financial implications, the ordination of priests and deacons, and the appointment of pastors. The office of the diocesan administrator will end when the new bishop takes canonical possession of the diocese during the Mass of Installation or Ordination, typically occurring within two months of the Holy Father's appointment of the new bishop.

El 20 de enero de 2025, el Papa Francisco anunció el nombramiento del Obispo Joe S. Vásquez como Arzobispo de Galveston-Houston. El 25 de marzo de 2025, clérigos, religiosos y fieles laicos se reunieron para la investidura del Arzobispo Vásquez en la Concatedral del Sagrado Corazón de Houston. Con este nombramiento, el cargo de Obispo de Austin queda vacante y esperamos con oración a un nuevo obispo. Dedication for April
The month of April is dedicated to The Holy Spirit. The first nineteen days of the month fall during the season of Lent which is represented by the liturgical color violet or purple — a symbol of penance, mortification and the sorrow of a contrite heart April 20th is Easter Sunday and the beginning of the Easter season. The liturgical color is white — the color of light, a symbol of joy, purity and innocence (absolute or restored).
